What to inspect on a used grader
The circle and circle drive (the rotating ring that swings the blade) is the most failure-prone system on a grader and the most expensive to rebuild. Check for play, listen for noises under load, and look for repair welds. Inspect the moldboard for wear and damage, the drawbar for cracks, the scarifier and ripper teeth, and the articulation joint for play. Test all blade movements — lift, slope, side-shift, articulation, circle rotation — and run through all gears. A grader with sound circle, decent tyres and a healthy engine is a strong buy.
